Foster Innovation and Practical Application
Give students and faculty a space to ideate, experiment, prototype, and apply engineering knowledge to real-world problems.

AICTE IDEA (Idea, Development, Evaluation and Application) Lab is a flagship initiative of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), designed to foster a culture of creativity, problem-solving, hands-on learning, and entrepreneurial thinking among students and faculty in engineering and technology institutions across the country.
We are delighted to share that Karpagam College of Engineering has been sanctioned an AICTE-IDEA Laboratory with a total project outlay of βΉ90 lakh. The funding comprises βΉ60 lakh under non-recurring grants, earmarked for state-of-the-art equipment, tools, and prototyping resources, and βΉ30 lakh as recurring grants, which will support training programs, workshops, industry interactions, innovation challenges, and other activities over the next two years.
This facility will empower students and faculty to transform ideas into prototypes and solutions, encourage multidisciplinary collaboration, and contribute meaningfully to the innovation and start-up ecosystem.
To establish the AICTEβIDEA Lab as a vibrant centre for innovation, experiential learning, research, and entrepreneurship, enabling students and faculty to transform ideas into practical, industry-relevant and socially impactful solutions through multidisciplinary collaboration, emerging technologies, and hands-on learning.
Give students and faculty a space to ideate, experiment, prototype, and apply engineering knowledge to real-world problems.
Build strong ties with industry through mentoring, projects, and internships, and encourage students across disciplines to work together on shared solutions.
Help good ideas grow from concept to prototype to real-world commercialization.
Build creativity, problem-solving skills, leadership, and an entrepreneurial mind-set in students so they can contribute meaningfully to society.
Encourage hands-on learning and creative problem-solving through prototyping and Hackathon competitions, connecting classroom theory with real practice.
Turn ideas into working prototypes and products using modern tools and technology, with students from different branches collaborating on integrated solutions.
Partner with industry on real projects while building students' technical and soft skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership, along with exposure to IoT, AI, robotics and automation.
Support students and faculty in building start-ups, filing patents, and conducting research that solves real problems.
Develop affordable and sustainable technologies for healthcare, agriculture, energy and rural needs while building a lasting culture of innovation through regular workshops, events and mentoring.
